Bosch Deadfront UI

Overview

Most appliances have text printed directly on the interface - always visible, even when off. It creates visual clutter and makes it harder to focus on what actually matters. When updating the Bosch range, I saw an opportunity to fix that.

Working within the constraints of an existing LED UI, I designed a deadfront display that stays completely dark when off. By utilizing the LEDs already behind the panel, the interface only illuminates the relevant options when you need them. This keeps the design clean and helps guide users through each step without distraction.

The deadfront effect turned a technical limitation into a design advantage, making the interface simpler to use while elevating the overall aesthetic.
