Mads Bondergaard

I'm Mads Bondergaard, a UX designer specializing in hardware interaction design. Originally from Denmark, now based in Southern California.

Becoming a dad changed how I think about technology. I find myself asking: what role do I want tech to play in my son's life? How can it make things better without taking over? These questions guide my work. I'm drawn to products that are useful without being distracting, that solve real problems without creating new ones. A lot of my projects explore nostalgia and simplicity. I like building purpose-built devices that do one thing well and help you stay in the present.

I started my design career building coding exercises with micro:bits for kids as part of the ultra:bit project. Watching LEDs light up, servos rotate, and sensors read the world showed me the magic of making physical things respond to code. Since then, I've been building things with Arduinos, ESP32s, Raspberry Pis, whatever lets me connect code to something physical.

I'm currently a UX designer for Bosch and Thermador, working on their home appliances. In my spare time I'm an ultra marathon runner, husband, and father to an awesome son.

Message sent! I'll get back to you soon.
